Since its inception the school has emphasized the development of upright character in students, seeking a well-rounded balance of their mental, physical and spiritual natures. The school has a large percentage of boarders, and is well suited to cater for highly talented students from rural Bangladesh seeking a higher standard of education than is locally available. The school strives to offer the highest standard of academic tuition possible, although the broader growth of character and the development of morals is also prioritized.
The school has several clubs led by interested members of staff and students, which serve as means to help students develop their extra-curricular interests. GSIS clubs As of 2022 included: Drama Club, Idea Club, Painting club and Praise & Worship Club and Science Club.
